Immobiliser Problem after replacing instrument panel bulb
Hi,
Audi A4, 1.9TDi, 1998
I removed my instrument panel to replace the indicator bulb. After putting it back into the car, the immobiliser won't go off (flashing), meaning that the car will not start (starts for about 1 sec and cuts out).
Is there a way for me to reset this without going to my dealer, as it is very annoying if I have to do this every time I need to change a bulb in the panel.
Many thanks,
Gary

Thanks Dave. I have a feeling that this would be the route I needed to take.
I have VAG but not the code for the immobiliser, so looks like a dealer job [:'(]

does the key fob work? if not perhaps it needs resetting just a thought also did you disconnect the battery while doing the job? perhaps you didn't replace a connector
I found the problem Dave - one of the connecting blocks in the rear of the instument cluster had not seated correctly
There are 3 connecting blocks, 2 of which have plastic 'hinges' that secure the blocks into their seats. I hadn't secured one of these hinges correctly and the connecting block was loose. Everything is working fine again
Thanks for your advice. Best wishes
