I hear the rear fog is for snow or bad visabiliy times thats it. I think its stupid and worthless as I cant even tell the difference on a clear night.

yeah i think it might be possible to wire the fogs to the brake lights so they come on with the brakes... not sure though...

You can tell the difference with the rear fog on! Do it in the garage at night with the lights turned off, you can tell. Its helpful when reversing at night.
How difficult is it to make the front fogs work without the low beams? anyone done it?

Are the fogs brighter than the brakes? I thought they were, but maybe it is because I came up on a guy in a benz (on a very dark road) running his rear fog and he nearly blinded me with it in comparison to just the tail lights. I think they are brighter than the brakes too if I remember right though. Anyway, it upset me that he could be so inconsiderate, so I passed him and turned on my rearfog to help him understand what he was doing... I don't think he got it. I don't think he knew his fog light was on.

dual rear fog lights are legal in cal. VC ยง 24602 and as to hooking them up to your breaks...i know some bimmer guys have gotten a pressure type switch so as you hit your breaks harder they will come on.

but has anyone done the dual rear fogs on the B5? i tried looking into it I know there is plastic in the housing that needs to be removed what about the harness is there wiring for the bulb or no it didn't look like it to me but i may be missing something....

let me know what you think
The B5 is prewired for dual rear fogs (actually, I think it's to have the rear fog on the right for folks in England).

It's a simple mod. The space for the bulb to fit in the right rear lense is partially closed so you don't have a completely round hole. Remove the right rear lense and use a dremel tool to remove the plastic and round out the hole. Once you can fit the bulb through the hole, you're done. Put the bulb in the bulb holder and replace the lense.

I haven't done the mod to my latest A4, so maybe I'll take pictures this time.
