Well I just got off the phone with James from InMotion, he is a one man team over there so he must be pretty busy right now, maybe the reason he isn't answering his phone very much. Anyway, he explained to me that this error code can be pretty common in the older ECU's for any tuning company, like 25%. Like shown in this thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=915672

Anyway , he will take my ECU back for free and try to work out any problems with it. I told him that I can't really be without my car for 5 days and pay money to overnight my ecu to him again. So he is going to send me a stock ECU to put in my car while he works on mine, I probably won't get it for another 2 weeks or so but I am very impressed with this.

Pretty much the fault code I am getting is just the ECU noticing that it has been tampered with. So what he does is try to trick the ECU into thinking that it is stock so it doesn't freak out and throw this code. He can't gaurantee it will go away for sure, but still the customer support is very nice! I will keep you all posted!

And Im still NOT trying to pee on the inmotion parade, but reflecting back on all the things that have happend to people and their inmotion experience alreadyso far, Im glad I spent the extra $250 for GIAC.
The internal control module malfunction fault code is very scary. Thats the kind of fault code you dont want to have without a 30 day gaurantee.
Keep us updated on that in particular.

When people consume products (at least when it comes to a product like this)50% of what gives the consumer a warm and fuzzy feeling about spending their money on it is the customer service aspect. Their customer service obviously is non existant at times. The fact that they cant make any gaurantees that they can fix your internal control module malfunction fault code/CEL should be very discouraging for anyone interested in getting chipped from them. Im no chip tuner, but to me, that sort of fault code indicates a mistake or mishandling problem on their end. If someone was interested in getting chippedby inmotion and did a search and found this thread, just reading about the way they shipped your ecu back to you alone would be a huge turn off. You could easily argue that your ecu was damaged due to the way it was sent back to you without any protective padding in the envelope. It's great that they are willing to try and fix your ecu, as they should, but Im just having a hard time finding any searchresults about this happening to anyone who went with better known chip makers..... Other than what you found on vwvortex (which by the way is not a good source for any kind of information, with the exception of a handful of very intelligent people.) The threads that i have read about this fault code seem to always mentionthat the ecu needs to be replaced which is not good. Im really not trying to bash inmotion in any way, im just trying to point out some facts that we know so far-without being overly "better known chip makers" biased.

You can only give so much slack when it comes to customer service. Sure they may be a new company that is under staffed and their just so busy chipping ecu's in the back room unable to asnwer the phone.. But if you are serious about your business and want to be successful, you understand the customer is #1 and you start pulling homeless people off the street to answer your gawddam phones and paying them with pretzels and cheese!

Good man!!! I am the same way!!! I am glad I didn't get it right away though because I might be selling my car and getting a stick. Once I do that then I will get a chip from inmotion! If I end up not seeling it then I will also, still get a chip from inmotion. I am getting one either way LOL

Yeah, paintball I was gonna do the same thing, but there is no way I can even consider looking for a different car right now, I am too poor.[&:] I figured there is no real point in getting another A4 just for a stick at this point. I will do a few more mods to this guy and then in a year get a B5 6-speed S4! Or who knows maybe I will get a REALLY nice job and get an RS4 or something...

LOL,
Yeah I am not sure excactly what i am doing yet. I have a company that is looking for an A4 and an S4 for me. You can send them an e-mail and tell them what type of car you are wanting, what year and price range, and what options and they will search the whole country for cars for you and then tell you what they can find. Oh and if it's a used car they can get it for you at about $50 above wholesale!!! And if it's a new car they can get you the car for DEALER PRICING!!! Sometimes cheaper!!!!
