Quick question. If the car is going to be insured in my fathers name, does it have to be titled in his name as well? Or can I have the car titled to me but insured under my fathers name.

You can be the primary driver and can be insured under your dads name. I am insured on the least valuable car we own, but and the primary driver on my car, which is insured under my dads name.

I just called my insurance company to add my new Audi and take my BMW 330i off of the policy.....

Even though the BMW was a $44,000 car and the Audi is a $35,000 car - it's going to cost me about $100 MORE every 6 months on my insurance.

What's up with that?? Same coverage, both are safe German cars that get great crash ratings, and my Audi is a friggin' 4-banger.
How does a car that is $9k cheaper actually cost me more to insure??

Probably cuz they see it has a turbo on it. The BMW is just engine, thats my guess anyways...

Bah.....200hp AWD vs 225hp RWD.
The Audi seems like it would be slower, safer, AND less expensive.

I'm bitter.

That sucks, I'd be interested to hear the logic behind that.

Lots of variables depend on insurance costs. Parts pricing, turbo vs na, awd vs fwd/rwd.....list goes on and on.

I bet audi is more because of turbo and awd alone.

i work for an insurance company. if the vehicle is owned by you you have to be on the insurance policy. if you are not on the policy but you do own the car there is no insurable interest for the named insured and some companies can and would deny a claim.
