Default Intake Question... Ya i know

Ok, i would like to know from people who have done different things with intakes what they think. I did the Airbox mod on my 98 1.8t Q and its barely audible because i was smart and didnt drill thourgh the fender liner none the less it is almost worthless for all the time i spent. I now have decided i want to redo the whole system. I know evoms is a good option but dont want to pay almost 300 bucks. The K&N intake system doesnt provide any heat protection which i know will be a huge issue in getting more horsepower since its right above the turbo but its pretty cheap. People who have these let me know what you think. Thank You i know this thread is "so yesterday" (**** Hillary Duff)

Ya but it can be better. i know the stock box is pretty good but a new system is going to be better no matter what.

mine a little diff from urs cuz i have a 2.8. the mini filter is for my secondary air injection system. the panel one holds up the big cone filter and the big cone filter is self explanatory lol.
