This intake worth the money?
any ideas on the difference of hp gain (if any) between the two? Does anyone know of any good CAI for my car? and not that one on lltek cause that looks like crap.

besides u might lose boost
I have a 97 1.8T what do you mean you might lose boost is it better to keep the stock air box or should I upgrade the intake system
What does it matter. You are buying it for the sound.
The CAI is more cosmetic than a performance improvement. If you like loud intake noise, then go for it. If you want your car to go faster, look elsewhere for horsepower gains.

I have the K&N 57i CAI kit installed on my car and it is really nice. It has the intake sound you are looking for and it also comes with extra tubing to bring in cold air from the front of the car. You use the stock heat shield with this kit, and I haven’t had any heat problems so far.

The kit runs around $130 for 1.8T but I think it cost a little more for the 2.8.

I wouldn't really say there is more power, but I don't really know. I didn't get it dyno'd. But the engine sounds more aggressive and on the 1.8T you can hear the DV release boost pressure. Yes it comes with the K&N air filter and all needed hardware. The install is pretty simple, the hardest part is getting the stock airbox out. The kit comes with installation directions also, which includes how to remove the stock airbox.
He will see more hp with the dual shields, its simple science, the more heat(soak) the less hp. He could see up to 10-12hp from that. David999, were dealing with 2.8s here, a totally different animal, there not just for the sounds.Its been a known fact for the past century that the faster u get air into the engine, the better.Audis arent any dif even know they have a good air box, a intake, with a good heatshield will make more power. Take for intance my ko4 setup, with the hks and a good heatshield i can add up to 7hp. Too many people just hear the stock is best, and not alot of people experiment to see for thereself. You really cant say unless you have done this.
so which is the best;
1. short ram with heat shield added
2. K&N air intake with K&N filter
3. K&N air intake with K&N filter and heatshield
4. The chrome B&B one with dual heat shield
* plz keep in mind alll things on the choice and that the airfiilter will be lined up with the air inlet that comes from the stock one and lets air in thru the grill (in front of the engine)
