is an intercooler like noz ?
Intercoolers are a myth. I think Mythbusters and doing a show on it next week actually...
A myth??? CRAP! I just bought one on e-bay... That means I am getting something that isn't real! DANG IT! I will have to see if I can return it...
I hate it when that happens!!! GEEZ

since were on the subject, with a FMIC would you have to use metal pipe or could you use silicone like the stock setup, i was just wondering cause it would be easier to get a silicone like tube than try to get perfect bends in metal pipe(just a thought might not be right)
metal is always better, preferably aluminum for its heat dissapating abilities
you dont nessecarily need bent tubing, you can get straight pipes, with like samco elbows and the degrees you need
the rubber hoses will most likely just collapse under high boost

Hi, i have a 1998 1.8t quattro. New to the site and seeking answers on many topics...
Could someone take a minute and list the difference/prioritize the choices: what is best as far as money goes, installation time/hassles, and other things when choosing what to buy : better turbo? ECU? Intercooler?...intakes? seeking to improve power/performance. (budget obviously pretty low, just got the vehicle)
I only have k+n filter, iridium plugs (by the way does anyone know if they have to be gapped? ( i was told they are specially designed for this audi.)
...thanks!!!!

Obviously a bigger turbo is gonna be the best performance mod. But if you are on a tight budget, get a chip. Yea they are like $400-$500, but that will be your best increase per dollar. Front mount intercoolers and intakes are good, but usually only really improve hp once you have a bigger turbo or chip or something else to begin with. Get a chip and a boost gauge.. The gauge will be worth it's weight in gold as a diagnostic tool. and they're fun to watch.

I almost got in a wreck the first day I had it because I kept watching the gauge instead of the road! I would hit the gas and let off really quick so it would bounce around. (I know I am weird!)

If you are moving up and have a tight budget, go for the GIAC chip and a 710N diverter valve. When you get some money, you can go for the K04 and GIAC programming. GIAC will give a discount on the K04 programming if you are already chipped with the K03 chip.
