Issues with Sticking...
Note, this isn't about ****. I posted this on AZ and recieved no responses there, but I did get a lot of views. Hopefully AF can do better!
I have a Tiptronic, and the button on the shift lever gets stuck every now and then. The car will operate normally, but I have to move it into Triptonic mode and then back to drive to make the button pop back out. It's done this the entire time I've had the car, and it hasn't really been a big deal, I'm just **** and want it fixed.
The only time it's particularly annoying is when you won't be able to turn the car off if you've moved the shifter from drive to park since the button gets stuck and the car isn't sure if you're in park or not. You have to wiggle the living beejuzzus out of it to get the button to pop back out. This doesn't happen often, but it's still annoying as sin.
Would it be safe to just kind of spray a little amount of WD-40 into the bottom of the button? Is there anything in there I could ruin doing this?
Secondly, the little tray cover over my cigarette lighter is stuck. I've carefully tried prying it up, but that doesn't work. Is there a known fix for this or will I have to break the damn cover to get to my cigarette lighter?
Thanks, guys.

dont, the WD40 is ignitable, unless you want to see your car in nice flames and do barbeque, just say when I will come, and I will bring marsmallows.
Go to electronic store, buy special fluid in a can, that does not have any sines of flame crosed in red. and says for cleaning electronic.

You can try some WD40 or some contact cleaner. If you use WD40. let it evaporate before you start, in case there might be a spark. Make sure that you try a little bit on the bottom of the chrome button and that it doesn't remove the chromed plastic finish before you spray it all over the button.
My recollection of the cover for the lighter is that you push it down to unlatch it.

even something as simple as a little bit of graphite inside the button will solve your issue, just be carful when gettin it in there that you dont make a mess, electronics cleaner will work as well, i wouldnt use wd40 its properties its lubricity is good but i think will make more of mess than what u want
