Jump starting on cold weathers
Hi All,
Just bought an A4 96 quattro. I love the engine as it runs smoothly but really naive with the instrumentation .
Situation: Cold weather, No block heater, car wont start now, Battery is 85% good last checked last night, Just bought from the dealer.
Question: Can I use a portable jump starter that plugs into the cars cigarrette lighter to start my car without causing any damage to the cars instrumentation? OR me and my family are SOL for buying this Audi 96? Please make me an Audi believer
Any advise would help. Thanks in advance.

I can....but dont want to hassle others for doing it...there is a Car shop next door and sells portable jump starters...I can simply get it there but dont know if it will screw up any instrumentation of the car. btw..thanks for replying...any more ideas... Any one?
I know there are portable jumper boxes that have a battery pack in them good enough to two starts. But I have never heard of one that plugs into your cigarette lighter. Isn't that a little odd seeing as (in a usual jump situation) how you need to start a car that has a dead battery but you're going to use that dead battery to jump?
Or does it plug into the cigarette lighter on another car?

I just bought the "Eliminator" from Canadian Tire and it worked. It jump started the car fine as I plugged it into the cars lighter port...but it reset all the instrumention. I didnt want that but then again I needed a vehicle asap so I had to. I am going back to the Dealership as they said everything should have been fixed when I bought this car and good as new when I bought it a week ago. They didnt tell me this car had no Block heater and that there is no heat. The dealer said they will have Audi look into it and that the bill will be taken cared of...if NOT I am returning this car as I need heat. I have tried searching in this forum for a solution for the heat issue but could not find a resolution to it...does anyone who reads this know? Please help a fellow Audi owner and share the knowledge ;P
