Just bought car with deployed airbag
This is the only part of the car that im unsure about how to fix. i think ill just cut out the pass side and reinstall the cover, but the steering wheel, I dont know. i dont care about airbags, but I like the Audi steering wheel a lot. Can I just get a cover for it or do I have to buy the whole steering wheel? Also the lever on the right side of the column is broke half off. Is that a pricey part too? Or a pita to replace? I could just deal with it.
Any suggestions welcome.

im not sure about the passenger side air bag, but for sure the driver's air bag you can take it off and install a new one. Plug and play.
I dont know the cost at the dealership for the aibags, but it must me expensive. Try some scrapyards.

How do I get an airbag from the junkyard, just get a whole steering wheel? Front ended a car, mushed the bumper cover, broke the radiator support, radiator, condensor, bottom engine mount stop. Thats all it appears to be. I imagine the springy bumper mount thing is thrashed too. Windshield is also cracked darnit. Windshield wiper lever is broke, might let that go. And the rear driver window is stuck but I hear the motor moving around. Hood's fine, fenders are fine.
2.8 5 speed. I always wanted one of these cars.

You my friend, you will have some major issues. You want to repair a car, but you dont know that there are 2 screws wich hold the airbag to the steering wheel. I highly suggest to let someone else do the job.
You are talking about some major repairs on the front of the car. Wich involves for you to take out the radiator support wich is welded by pressure points. I dont think you realise how many things you have to do. And you ask how to install an air bag...I dont want to be discourage you, but you better think twice before you start spending the money and then you hit a brick wall because you dont have the experience to repair the car. Probably, you will end up by getting the car to a mechanic, or junk the car.
Update: i think our friend is right, the radiator support is plastic.

You underestimate me, and I am not your friend. I have worked on far more complicated things. I used to do body work on audis and vws. I was an F16 mechanic for four years. The radiator support appears to be plastic. Air bag. Right, I guess I mustve missed that class in high school. Everyone should know how to do that. I also built an 800hp drag car that is probably faster than anything youve ever been in in your life. I didnt post a question asking for some stupid *** ignorant answer and your opinion on my experience level and that I should junk the car.
If someone thats older than 15 could tell me the best way to get another wheel or cover on there, that would be awesome. Its only the part im unsure about. I dont mess with airbags and I dont like them. I like the factory steering wheel too. I think momo's are hideous.

well, F16 mechanic, then you should have no problem fixing the car.You appeared to be a 17yrs old kid.
Yes there are 2 screws on the back of the steering wheel wich retain the airgab on the driver side. The passanger airbag, i honestly dont know.
do you have pictures of the car?
PS.You shoud also buy a new airbag at the junkyard.Should not cost morethan 100$ each.

I dont like negative advice. I also dont like rough assumptions about myself. But thanks for answering my question, I got the bag off, but was a little confused about the wire. Wasnt sure if it was supposed to stay with the car or with the bag. I kinda ripped it off the bag. The front end will be easy, so far the parts are relatively cheap. The only thing that is going to be tough is straightening the frame posts that are slightly bent and mushed.
