Default just got giac

I just got giac on my '99 1.8t. I installed the 710n dv 5 days later and have no other upgrades.

However, I still feel no performance gains..before or after the 710n dv install--maybe slightly if I trick myself enough. It's been about 5 days and 200 miles and still nothing. Any ideas? I heard the difference was supposed to be like night and day.

ya you should know when the boost kicks in.
try being in 2nd gear, w/ rmp's around 2250 then roll on the gas, around 2750-3000 you should hear the turbo spoolin and feel major power increase.
check the DV make sure you didn't install the hoses incorrectly

isn't it supposed to kick my car into speed right away from 0mph? Even before my 710n install there were no gains. I actually installed the 710n today, the 5th day after the giac was installed.

Of course I know when the boost kicks in, it kicked in stock. This feels like at best a $40 upgrade

So giac chip only increases performance gains during boost? that sucks. Takes my car forever to get off the line

I must be the only one dissappointed with getting chipped..I hope a miracle happens because it still feels stock and does the same 11 second 0-60

so this "40+ hp and 50+ ft-lbs of torque" claim is only apparent when the turbo boosts?

Of course it only increases the power when your boosting. It gets those gains by raising the boost pressure. But the tubo lag is almost non-existant in these cars (at least compared to my rx7), and you should definately feel a huge difference unless you are shifting at 2500 rpm.

Do you have a boost guage?

That would be the first step. Hook a boost guage up and verify that you are boosting the psi you should be. My guess is there is a boost leak or other problem which is causing you to still be boosting at stock levels or below.

The only reason that it adds more hp is because it increases the max PSI.. 12-17 or something.. I dont know the actual numbers.. sooo YES your noticable increase in hp will be from 3-6k. If your still at 11 sec 0-60.. You did NOT increase the boost (if you got the program from a dealer.. GO BACK, if you got a "chip/flash/ ecu" from someone, you got hosed).. and your driving it way wrong..

Is it a stick? If so, raise your rpms to 3k and dont drop your clutch, but take .5-1 sec to release your clutch, increasing your throttle % relatively inverse to the amount your releasing your clutch.. Be careful. Dont hold your clutch on the friction point for more than 2 sec, or you'll burn your clutch up. Just keep a note on your engine speed... It takes some practice... but you'll reduce your 0-60 by 2 or more seconds...

For a novice this is the best way to launch aturbo car.

Oh.. and dont do it that often, even though it might be tempting..

no you noobs. damnit..

if your not feeling any gains then OBVIOUSLY you have something wrong with your car. like a LEAK somehwere.

its not rocket science. how can you think that 30-50 horses/tq DOES NOT make a difference on a car with 150hp?? HOW?
