Hey guys im tony and i just bought an 01 A4 Turbo quat. and its the first audi I have owned. I really like it but i have a couple first time questions.

1. When I turn on the ignition, in the HID it shows a gasoline tank and a 'SERVICE!' message. Then it says 'OK!' when I gear to drive and then it goes directly into what music station im at and how much gas milage I have. What is this 'SERVICE!' 'OK!" message and should I be worried?

2. I'm getting a strange sound when im idling when I turn on my car. Its like a small wishy washy sound (kind of like the sound of wind coming thro a crack or something)coming from the engine. Nothing seems to be wrong but Im just wondering if thats normal or not. I do have a custom exhaust on the car that the previous owner put on.

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but when you first start up your car it goes through a self check of the system thats what the gas tank, service light. when it says OK..self check is good....but I could be wrong.

 

first answer is no, don't be worried. every audi does that.. there is a way to reset the 'service' interval message though. it's in the manual if you want to go about that

second answer is, that is the secondary air injection pump. it is used for emmisions to heat up the cat right when you turn on the car.so everything is normal. im guessing you have 2000 model year or later
