just installed a new clutch and wont go into gear
well i just realized there are 2 pages to this forum. I guess you could have a problem if you didnt use the alignment tool but i dont see how you could have gotten it in if it wasnt lined up or even why that would be your problem. i guess maybe your clutch plate could affect the way your pressure plate moves but i kind of doubt it. did you torque everything to proper specs? your pressure plate should have been torqued to 18ft lb if i'm not mistaken.
Sounds to me like the throw out bearing, the throw out bearing controls clutch disengagement. I have never used an alignment tool to install a clutch (too expensive) I use a socket since I have them laying around anyway. If the clutch plate is not aligned the input shaft on the tranny will not go in to the clutch assemby. I would check the throw out bearing and clutch fork assembly. This will require removing the tranny to fix though.

The bearing must be able to slide on the imput shaft, if you replaced the bearing did you lube the input shaft where the throw out bearing slides? I would use antisieze or some other high temp. lubricant. Is the clutch fork back under the retainer that holds down the throw out bearing? I would guess that one of those two things would be the problem.
ok.... wow... long day of work i had today... and wow do i feel like quite the moron!!!! ok soo one of the problems i had was that the clutch plate was in backwards!!! f u c k me in the ***... lol,... so when i depressed the clutch it was always in gear... and now it makes sense that the clutch wouldnt go all the way to the floor... and as well the throw out bearing wasnt too happy that the clutch was in backwards... lol... so i had to get a whole clutch kit today from the local auto parts store... but after i got home and got the tranny all the way out i noticed that the pilot bearing is messed up also... and my kit didnt have a pilot bearing in it... so i called the auto parts store and questioned them.. they said it should have one in it.. so they had to order it so it will be there in the morning... so i can finish up the job tomorrow morning... but the good news... now i know what the hell was going on... lol and that i can drop my tranny in about 3 hours with two 30 min drives to the auto parts store
thank god im almost done with this ordeal...
however much that it was my fault[:@]god damn it! god damn it![:@]but thank you all for your information!!!i do hope that everything tomorrow goes smoothly with out snags... " fingers crossed" lol

Removing the pilot is easy. like rowing said "a hammer and a piece of wood." just take your time and dont hit it too hard. use the same tools to put the new one in and hit it gently. its easy as pie. just make sure its not in backwards...
