Just left AWE with my new chip (GIAC) !!!!
well I went to AWE today and I just got back......
GIAC chip in my 1.8T and a new DV (Bailey's)
WOW what a difference !!!!!!!
not only the OBVIOUS extra HP, but the car just all-around drives better... I think this is how the car was meant to be programmed.
I'M VERY PLEASED with the results...
...on AWE's behalf.. I'd have to say I couldn't be happier with their service either.
I asked to see my ECU after the soldering was done so I could see the solder-job done , and I asked the to show my the intalled-job on the DV. They did both with no complaints or scoffs, had the work done in about an hour. And had a PC, TV, X-box, PS2, and more magazines than I would need to wallpaper their store with intheir lobby all at my disposal while I wait.
I also got a kinda-informal "tour" of the place on my way back to my car to see the completed work.
AWE.... GIAC.....
both are coming VERY highly recommened by me at this point...

when do you feel most of the power kick in and what are you now boosting at, I just got mine back from AWE last week and I love everything about it except the lag until about 4000rpm
keep in mind i've only driven it a few miles and THAT was in the rain....
... but I'm gonna have to guess about.... 3K or so..
if you can hold off till tomorrow I'll make a point of checking and watching my tach...

I've had a very good experience with in-house tuning as well. I had my GIAC chip installed at Imagine Auto in KC. They specialize in Porsche/Audi/VW parts and customizing. I actually went there for a VW/Audi meet and they installed it while I was eating BBQ'ed hamburgers they provided for the meet. They also have a Mustang AWD dyno in house, great for the quattro owners.
Here's their web site, for anyone in the KC area, very cool site to check out regardless.

As for the guy who asked about when the power kicked in, while I was waiting for my chip to be done, a buddy of mine with a chipped 1.8t Passat dyno'ed his car. As far as I can remember, power peaked somewhere between 3200 and 3500 and was mostly steady to almost 7000 where it dropped drastically.
