Off-hand I thinkthey would, but would a '98 tail lights fiton B5 A4 '96.Since I need to replace my tail lights thinkingof puttingthe 98's. Just looking for confirmation.If anybody selling their stock '98 tail lights just let me know.

 

Yes, they'd fit. They're the same size, just look different.

 

+1 on yes they will fit - and actually there is no rewireing needed - direct replacement. If you go up to the 99.5+ tails you will need to make changes to the wireing harness to work correctly.
