Internal Dashboard Noise 03 A4 1.8 w/ tip
Does anyone know what could be the constant clicking/moving noise coming from inside the dash? Sounds like there are vents opening and closing constantly. Have tried everything on the climate control to get it to stop. Even when the climate system is off can still hear it. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions? Thanks!
i thought i was going crazy but i know exactally what you are talking about. i have a 98.5 and mine does that as well. i have no idea what it is. its like a fluttering/clicking sound...even when you take the keys out; you can hear it better that way too.
From what it sounds like you're describing, it sounds like it's your vents. If you have it on AUTO they are constantly adjusting to keep the temperature set at what you have it at. If you've noticed in the morning on a cold day, if you set it at 75 it'll start off blowing very little air until it gets warmer and then it'll kick the air up a notch to get more warm air in the car. Once it gets to the temp set on the climate control, it goes down to keep it at the set temp.
Hey, thanks for the vent information. The weird thing is the a/c-heat system is completely off and no fans are running. It def. sound like vents are opening and closing.
There is some type of fan which runs continuously behind the dash of my 99.5. I can turn the fan off, but this one in particular continues to run. I think it has somehting to do with the outside temp and the windshield defroster. It probably keeps enough air flowing over it to prevent fogging at near freezing temperatures.
I have just bought an A4 Avant (Excellent Choice) and have noticed these noises also. You can hear vents opening / closing , motor noises coming from the centre of the dash and then from the passenger side dasheven when the car is off and the key is out. The noises seem to have a regular cycle like motor noise, vent noise, motor noise, motor noise, vent noise etc .... I suspect this is probably normal DualClimate Control noise , it's just wierd that it does this when the key is out for up to 10 mins .... anybody shedding any light on this would be greatly appreciated
