What exactly are you trying to achieve? k&n's really don't do anything on our cars. I've never heard anyone say it was worth it.

well ive heard mixed things so far
ive heard it:
increases airflow slightly, mpg or 2 better gas consumption, and sounds better
and
ruins maf, no gains, gets oil everywhere, and needs to be cleaned

the reason is cuz my stock filter needs to be replaced @ 85k on original one. and im looking to get something that would be a direct replacment with possible better flow for cheap.

I hardly doubt you are running for 85k miles on an original air filter. The dealership changes them during scheduled maintenance. So your car never saw any time at the dealership?

I've only heard the complaints from the filters. One of the very respected members did his own tests with the stock filters (Mann) and the k&n. The flow was only marginally better with the k&n, but there is a price to pay. The K&n allowed a greater amount of particles into the engine because the distance between the threads is greater than a stock paper filter.

audi pays for the maintance up to 50 miles so you would not be on the original filter and don't waist your money on a K & N not worth it and yes I have seen them fu@k up a few MAF's

Not sure if it's coincidence or not but when I put in my K&N filter my MAF went bad. They do come pre oiled too so don't oil it at all. Ever since i switched my MAF i've had no issues. And I'm not going to bother oiling/recharging it.

im just looking for performance vs the stock filter....

what about the corbino or w/e the intakes are? any gains? ive done some research etc.

(no intakes not my only mod. just asking questions i gotta start somewhere lol)

If you take off your airbox you'll be able to tell if its cleaned or not. And what do you drive? 1.8T or 2.8? I've asked questions about intakes, exhausts, chips, pulleys, port & polish, etc. All I hear about NA engines like mine is that intake/exhaust and chips will do very little and to just save for a G3 Supercharger- $5k...100hp...320 overall..350 or so w/ intake and exhaust.
