K&N drop in filters
hi all,
i really dont plan on doing any modding to my A4 (we'll see what a few months of 150 horses do to me) so i was wondering if i can expect any gains at all from adding just a K&N drop in filter.
thanks

there is a thread about this on this very page... called green air filter vs K&N airfilter basically the same thing... i copied and pasted what i said in the other thread
people argue that K&N are good and since its a pannel filter that it will let more air in then your dense stock paper filter... Studies have shown on audiworld that K&N filters infact HURT your car... They allow more dirt in your car leading to dirtier engine thus leading to dirtier oil... Also people really dont know this but when you recharge those filters with that oily cleaner stuff it has been known to destroy your maf. The oil from the cleaner will get onto the maf and destroy it... reason being is when ever you turn off your car, the wire in the maf that reads the air flow heats up really hott to burn of any excess particles, if that oil cleaner stuff gets on it and you turn it off it cannot burn it off and ruins it... although you can take it out and clean it with rubbing alcohol, most of the time it will be shot. Basically in a nutshell your car has a set amount of air it can take at a time before each combustion there is no noticeable gains with that filter in the first place so why bother???
