Default Key fob?

When I bought my b6, it only had the valet key with it. No fob or anything else.

Looking on ebay seems to be a lot cheaper than going to dealer to get on cut and programmed. How do I know what key fob to get and how do I program?

I searched on what numbers to find, but to no avail. I just don't want to waste $50 on a key/fob off of ebay and then have it not work.

I had the same problem. Your still gonna have to get the keys cut at the stealership, can't avoid that. The remotes on ebay will work, I bought two. Just look at the end of the FCC ID# for 63. Thats the one with the trunk unlock botton. The older style with no trunk unlock ends in 64. I have both 63 and 64 and they work. Plus they're easy as hell to program, no stearlership involved... http://www.audiworld.com/tech/misc.html

^^^^Most USED car dealers get there cars from auctions (at much cheaper prices I might add) and sometimes these cars only come with 1 key, no service records (like mine), and other little stuff missing like. So you buy the car basically AS-IS. Obviously Audi stealerships sell only certifieds used cars so your gonna get all the stuff with it.

My stealership charged me 65 bucks to cut the key. They wanted $95 for a key fob and $55 to program it, those bastards. I bought two off ebay (one was brand new) and programmed them myself for a total of $70.

On that site they say you must have 2 keys to program new fob. Is this true?

And I am planning on getting this one off of ebay:

Also, does frequency make a difference?
