Default Key FOB or car?

Hey all,
my key fob will only lock/unlock my car from <10 feet away. Is it the battery in my key fob? My friend's C class MB unlocks in the parking lot from our 4th floor balcony that overlooks it, but I can't even unlock my A4 from more than 10 feet away..what's wrong here?

See, neither of those work for me..I think holding it above your head would be even better. This is the reason radio towers are so tall.... height boosts broadcasting range by going over obstructing objects. I suppose it couldn't hurt to change the battery then.

its da car, the antenna that receives your FOB's transmission is under the rear seat w an itty bitty antenna, you can take some16-18 guage and attach it to the antenna and run it up alongst the headliner to get an extra 50ft or so of distance...there are many threads about this, just search around a bit

gl!

It's the car. The antenna is hidden under the seat or under some body panel thats blocking the signal. You need to find it and extend the antenna wire. For some reason the location is different across the model years and generations, on the b5 alone there are three locations. I've done it on my b5 with great results. I have no idea where it is on your b6, nice ultrasport btw. Search the forum for "remote range increase" or something like that.

I actually know of a neat way to extend the range of your antenna; but it might not be worth it. What you do is you need to go to the Aztec Ruins and go to the Temple of Shal'ak'ohman; there's only one entrance in. Run to the Room of the Three Gargoyles. Push in the right tongue on the third Gargoyle, and a door will open which leads you down a cascading staircase that takes you into a room with a wall that you must climb. Here, you must choose your next path. You could race up to the Observatory, spin the sundial, and pass into the Room of the Golden Idols. Once you're there, push down their bases to release the remaining Gargoyles which will collapse the wall, or you may enter the Shrine of the Monkey. Assemble the Platinum Statue there using the broken pieces on the ground, and head up to the Torch Room. If the Sundial has been turned in precisely the right angle, the mine shaft elevator will work. Descend into the Throne of the Pretender, grab the sixth hammer on the left-hand side, and plow your way through the brick wall. Only then may you throw the hammer up and smash one of the Gargoyle statues which has been moved to the Window of Mirrage. Once you destroy it, you might have a chance to leave the Cave of Sighs and enter the Temple Gates, from which point you will sprint past the Room of Poison Darts and enter the Chamber of Hallow Hearts, where you must tell the Immortal Guardian that you wish to perform the Dance of Pestilent Flames. If done correctly, you will be rewarded with a better FOB. This opportunity is yours, and yours alone. May God watch over you, and best of luck.
