Key Programming
So I've tried just about every way there is to program my car keys. Both are now not working, and I've had it. Is there a way to do it with a Vag-Com at the dealership/mechanics? Is it really expensive?
what worked for me was put first key in ignition and turn it on one click, then with driver window down lock driver door with second key then push unlock on key in ignition, repeat with other ket but push unlock button twice this time
I got this info from another site, it worked in setting my 2000 A6 Key... make sure the key in the ignition step is in the on position where all dash light come on or the key in the door will shut all windows when u put it in the lock position!!
heres the steps:
The chip is in the remote part of your key, not the blade.
To program the remote functions on a new key, get in your car with the car off and the driver side window rolled down.
insert the new key into the ignition
insert your vallet key in the driver side door lock (outside the car)
turn the vallet key towards lock and hold it there
while it is held towards lock, press the unlock button on your new remote for
2 seconds.
let go
press it again for 2 seconds
let go and you should hear an alarm honk or something like that.
This is from memory so it may not be right. I would recommend searching archives
