Keyfob
Hi there,
Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before but I have a 2004 A4 FSI SE. UK spec. One of my keyfobs stopped working the other day. i.e it would not unlock/lock the car. Went and got my spare remote and drove to work thinking it must be the battery in the other remote. Go and buy a panasonic cr2032 replacement battery and then replace in the faulty remote. I then follow the instructions from the manual which it says to do after replacing the battery in the remote:
Re-synchronising the remote control
- If the vehicle is locked, use the key to unlock the drivers door
- Press the unlock button on the remote control
- Insert the key into the ignition and switch on the ignition
- Switch off the ignition and remove the key
- Press the unlock or the lock button
I follow this to the letter and it does not work!! In fact I tried it for about 20-30mins!!!!
Has anyone any ideas? What am I doing wrong Is this a known issue?
Thanks in advance
TeK

RE: Keyfob
Depends on your year. 2000's and older it's pretty easy. Lots of them come with blank keys, so you just go get the key cut at the dealership and program it yourself. 2001 and up have an immobilizer in them that has to be programmed by the dealership afaik. That's for US keys, Europe had the immobilizer much earlier.
