I lost my keys. I had the swichblade key with remote entry. I saw on ebay that you can buy those keys but I wanted to get some feedback. Plus I also heard that you can format the remote yourself?

Sure you can program the remote yourself. Both of the remotes that I have purchased off ebay came with instructions. It's pretty simple. Make sure if you buy one of the blank switchblade remotes, that you contact your dealer to find out if they will cut a blank key. Some will not, mine only charged me 5 dollars.

as far as I know you can only program a remote if you already have one. One needs to be in the ignition while one is in the door getting programmed.

Not all dealers have the ability to cut keys. Normally they charge around 40 bucks tho.

You don't need aremote to program one. When I bought my car it didnt come with anything other than a regular valet key.

ah yeah - as long as you have a key in the ignition (not necessarily a remote) you can program the new remote - good point Jest...

Well when I purchased my car, all they gave me was a valet key and a normal key. No remotes no switchblade. Old school key.So I went on ebay and bought a switchblade remote FOB with a blank Key in it. Took the key to the stealership and they cut it for me.

To program your remote you take one key and put it int he ignition, and turn it to ACC. then you go outside and lock the doors with your other key. With your remote you click the unlock button and the horn will honk once. Then you ready to go!
