wow cant believe i read that whole thing. haven't read any responses tho. if he's gona be a dick, give him a final warning. give you your 500 or you report the car stolen. you will get it back and then that will force him to take legal action. even if he does, you have the contracts so he will just be wasting his money.

 

Like we have said. You can't report it stolen. It will be a boguspolice report..... It just like banks when you stop paying on a loan. They dont report the car stolen as it never was. He gave him the keys and the car. He can get in a lot of trouble if he goes that way!!! You would need to report it. Before you do anything contact a lawyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AF is not the place to get legal advice..........

Give him written notice that since he has broken the terms of your contract, that the car is to be returned within 24 hours or you will report it stolen, as he no longer has permission to be in posession of it. A nice reminder of the penalty for being in posession of stolen property might help. Like the others said, you really don't want to report it stolen, but telling him that you will might persuade him to bring it back. If he doesn't, go there with a cop to get it.

 

That way if it goes to court you can claim more money from rental fees all you have to do is prove that you sent the notice and that can be done by sending it as certified mail, soas soomashe touches the letter he has been served.He will probably evensign the delivery guys sheetconfirminghehas recived the noticebecause he is a kid and willbe curious to knowwhat the letter says, but what he doesnt realize is that as soon as he gets the letter he is obligated to pay the daily rental fee youare charging himahahahahahahah. It's evil but its legal.

...but I do agree to cut your losses and write off the 300 bucks. Take this as a lesson in the general nature of people who have poorly set priorities. This comes from personal experience, as I used to be one myself. Talked to him today, here's what we are going to do.

I keep the money and the aftermarket wheels and tires. Going to his place tomorrow to sign over the title and give him the rest of the keys.

I'm quite happy with the outcome, that is if it actaully goes through.
