Default kinda scary.

so i was driving to work the other day and taking the exit off the freeway (which curves around) my power steering went out and i noticed my RPMs all the way down. it was a b!tch to stop the thing cause the powered brakes went out too. luckily it was a red light so i was able to investigate what i could from my seat. the battery light was on but my music was still playing. i turn the key to restart the car and it fires up just fine, and since then its been driving like nothing ever happened. i wasnt low on gas or anything so i know that wasnt the case. has anyone had their car just randomly turn off while driving before? any idea what happened?

lol yea...well this is the first thing that my car's ever done weird. it's run perfect since i got it in september. but yea, i was taking the turn and just holding the steering wheel relaxed and i start going straight! so i had to practically yank and hold the steering wheel and put all my weight on the brakes to keep me from slamming into the other car already stopped at the light in front of me.

This happened to me when I was a teenager many moons ago and had a Ford Escort GT. Go ahead...laugh.
what ended up being the problem was a door panel light was staying on after I shut the car off and it would slowly drain the juice from my battery.
After having to recharge the entire battery too many times from my leak, the alternator died on me and gave me the exact same experience you're detailing.
Not sure if it' the same situation, but you may want to check there (the alternator) to see if you may have a problem.

check your battery connections. If you have a sound system make sure everything is grounded well. I had a boost gauge with a light and had similiar symptoms due to a bad connection.
