KO4 install tomorrow

RE: KO4 install tomorrow
Actually, the 99.5's up are available with the flashloader. And you will not run lean, as the computer is tuned for the stock injectors and will limit the amount of boost to keep you as close to stock as possible.

RE: KO4 install tomorrow
The ATW engine will have problems running a K04 with stock programming. The car will run but you will hit limp mode very easily. You probably won't ever get enough boost to worry about running lean. AWE does not show a flashloader for anything older than 2001 but you may be right that it is available. My point isthat stock programming on an ATW with a K04 is not worth the cost. I looked at my chips again and I spoke incorrectly when I said the stock chip needs the encryption board. It is set up to plug directly into the same socket that the encryption board plugs into. ATW engines react a lot differently than the older dbc engines. I researched this a lot when I put my K04 in about 18 months ago. Just trying to pass along a little advice about the issues that I went through.

RE: KO4 install tomorrow
Well i havent worried about the chip yet, becasue i started working on the install today, and haha taht turbo is one ******* bitch to get out. The one mounting bolt on the bottom sucks so bad i almost **** a chicken. But i laugh, i think ill spend a better amount of time on it tomorrow and get the ko4 completely in. But school is getting in the way. I guess if i accomplish this its one brownie point to 18 yr olds.

Good luck on your install. The two hardest things to get to are the bracket below the turbo and the oil return line.A lot of people just cut the bracket off asmost say it isn't needed. I spent more time on those than about anything. If you really think you need the stock chip, let me know and I will let you have mine for a lot less than $50 if you have an 018P ecu.
