This is the last straw
Sounds like its more of a burden for you than it is a good thing to own your audi. You shouldnt own somehting that consumes you like this.. There are solutions to your problems, and they arent going to fix themselves.. And why is it that OCD people think that they are so helpless sometimes?! **** happens in life, and when it happens to material possesions/objects, you cant let it affect you so much. I mean i love my car and I worry about bad things happening to it, but what happens, happens... and theres not much you can do about it other than do your best to take care of it.. If you can worry about a scratch "for hours"... You need to find a hobby, or something else in life that can occupy your thoughts or show you that there are more important things in life to worry about other than a car. Its just a car. How about worrying more about a job, school, your future, money, family, your health, your other interests, girls, etc... Those things should be the most important things to worry about in anyones life, I call them priorities.. Maybe your priorities are out of whack???? I think i felt the same way you are feeling when i was young and had a $310/month payment on a car that i knew i didnt deserve or should be driving at that age, i didnt feel worthy of it and i always was on my toes is something bad were to happen to it.. So this is my help, not my sympathy.....
Have you actually been diagnosed with OCD? Because that doesn't really sound like OCD at all... possibly OCPD or something, but yeah... definately not OCD.
But yeah, we're all **** about our cars... and it does suck when stuff happens to them. It would be nice to get a new car every 6 months... that's for sure

None of you know what OCD is! [:@] Haha I'm a psych major... You are really describing more of a perfectionist or obsessive-compulsive PERSONALITY disorder...
True OCD involves unwanted/disturbing thoughts, and the sufferer develops obsessions/compulsions to deal with these thoughts...
Example: you are convinced that you'll literally kill your boss if you go to work today... so, what do you do? Wash your hands 500 times!
OCPD is more the perfectionist, where the obsessions ARE the problem themselves... OCD the obsessions are a result of the unwanted thoughts. See the difference? Haha sorry...

Hey guys, thanks for your replies.
Yes, I have been diagnosed with OCD and yes I know the exact symptoms, though these might not pertain exactly to the more "mainstream" symptoms. I am a compulsive hand washer, and have several rituals, etc. to get rid of unwanted thoughts that intrude during my life. This car thing is just a part of that, but there are several other components. I'm well aware of OCD as I have read several books about it, been to 3 doctors, and taken several different medications. Figured that I'd post about my car problem (which is more than just making sure it's clean, etc.) to people who can understand this side more. Your input help me put another perspective on things however.
Thanks,
A4

Yeah, from reading your post, and saying that you "have" OCD... I didn't doubt that you had been diagnosed. I just didn't want everybody thinking THEY had OCD.
It is a serious disorder, though... I hope you are finding effective ways to deal with it. Sounds like you have achieved self-awareness in acknowledging the problem is there... and are actively seeking solutions (3 doctors, several books) ... that's good stuff man. I hope all is well! Things like the car scratches sort of compound the real issues at hand, I bet. Fight the power, though!
