Lead Based Window Tint?
Well, I took my car to the dealer because my radio stations have been going in and out. I had a problem with my radio reception when I first bought the vehicle (I bought it in February) and I had my antenae replaced. Anyhow, I just thought it was acting up again. This time they replaced the factory amp in the car but that didn't have any effect. Then after another day of research they told me that my tint on my car is lead based which is interfering with the antanae on the back windshield. I've never heard of this but I got my tint job shortly after they fixed my radio the first time so I really don't know. I am going to contact the guy who did my tinting and ask him but before I do just wanted to see if anything else has heard of this.
A tint shop which did the tinting for my A4, chevy silverado and my girlfriend's car told me about tint films. He said that some cheaper films will cause radio and cell phone interference due to it's material, and the tint turns purple later on. I went with 3M carbon tint on my rides

Well, just spoke to my tint guy. He said all the tint he uses is metallic based. The only tint that is not metallic based is the tint you see on piece of sh*t cars that fades to a purple color. He continued to say that he has had people come to him before about their radio station after getting tinted but it's like 1 in every 500 cars he does. Oh well, I guess it's a good reason to go XM...
