Default Left HID not working!

My Audi A4 2000 front left Low beam Xenon bulb has stopped working. I replaced the bulb with a new one and when I turned it on it came on them went out. I thought I had blown it, but swapped it in to the right side and it worked. So what is wrong with my left side and how can I trouble shoot it, any help is appreciated.

You may have a bad ballast. The ballast is the box that connects to the bulb and is responsible for converting the voltage and wattage of your electrical system to light the xenon arc in the bulb. I would place the old bulb (if it works on the right side) or the new one in the headlight, and then swap the ballast from the right to the left to see if you can get it to stay lit. If it does, you have a ballast problem and will have to order a new one.

thos black boxes are ballasts. They sit behind the headlight housing.

I have factory installed HID and would assume the Ballast is similar. The wire from the bulb is inside the headlamp assey. Is that where the standard Ballast is located?

The ballast is a black box that looks like those above that sits on the outside-rear of the headlight housing. They may be tucked down around the bottom of the housing on the outside as well. They are easy to spot.
