I recently had my rear plate stolen off my 2000 A4. They tore the entire assembly, including the mounting plate, away from the security bolts holding the mounting plate to the trunk lid. The plate was plastic, I had never paid attention. To prevent a recurrence, I have been looking for a metal mounting plate, without success. Does anyone know if these exist, and where they can be found? Failing that, I am looking at drilling holes in the trunk lid, and mounting the plate directly to them. Does anyone have experience with this? Other suggestions are welcome. I can add security locks/brackets if needed, but, by themselves, they won't protect against another theft of the type I encountered.

I left my car for 3 days and discharged the battery before traveling. Now it won't start after connecting back the battery terminals. New plucks. What could be the cause?
