Default Locksmith

Trying to find a locksmith that cuts keys for Audi's. The local dealership evidently orders keys from Audi if you need a new one. I checked on replacing the switchblade key on a remote I purchased via Ebay. For the low price of $60.00 I can have one sent from Audi to match my car!!

I read some posting, somewhere that Walmart can cut these keys. Does anyone know if that is correct? I have a 98 A4 and have 1 key only. I believe I need to keys to program the remote. Also would be a good idea to have more than one key, I would assume!

Any help would be appreciative!

Thanks!

Not sure where "local" is.

My walmart can't cut keys and you will have a hard time finding blanks

Well Im not sure about walmart, but you can try looking in your local yellow pages for locksmiths and give them a call.

Also, I *think* you need both keys to program it. But you can find blanks on Ebay, Just make sure they are matching fcc #'s(its on the inside if you pull it apart).

Well, I don't think finding blanks will be near as complicated as finding someone that will cut them. I've found several postings for either the switchblade blanks and a few for key blanks. Just haven't found anyone in Eastern South Dakota that can cut these type of keys as of yet. The Audi dealer in Sioux Falls, SD indicated that they order the keys from Audi pre-cut to match your existing key off either key info or they did sell this car new??
