Advice re buying an A4.
My son is looking at buying a second hand 2007 A4.
I know the usual things to look out for in a second hand car but does anyone have any specific problems to look out for in the A4.
I have read some reports of oil and water leaks, don't know if these are wide spread or just unlucky.
Could someone also give me an idea of the normal Service costs.
Thanks
Robert

I think it is allways best to have a pre purchase inspection done at a shop familiar with Audi's.
As far as service they are not too bad. If you can do it your self not bad at all. If you bring it to the dealer , Just bend over & get ready for wallet emptying.

my 2007 a4 has had no leaks at all. german cars typically don't leak.
the car is fantastic. i've had some minor issues fixed under warranty so hopefully any issues with this car you're looking at have also been worked out. there's an extended warranty on those parts anyhow so if there's an issue, it should be covered. the minor issues are PCV and intake runner servo.
service costs are not any higher than any other place. i just do the big ones at the dealership and the others are oil changes. the big services (every 40k) are ~ $600 or so. i pay the same for the big services regardless if it's my vw or audi. there's a myth associated around a higher service cost.
ps. my dealer is honest.
