Whats up guys, as the title says I'll be looking at A4s as soon as I sell my 3000GT. (Huge mistake in buying btw). I'm looking to spend $12,000-13. I have seen some nice 99-00's on various websites for sale. I have done searches of pics of the 99vs.99.5 and I can't come up with any. I have read about the differences in the various posts, but I would like to see the side by side. Could I get a decent A4 for this price? From what I have seen I can, but of course I knwo nothing about Audis. My dad says get a BMW becuase he has one and so do a few people that work for him, but im thinking Quattro, because I'll be going to school in Western Ma, in the Berkshires in the Fall (so far anyway). AWD would be great if this is the case. Are Xenons standard in these years or options? Prefer a 5-speed, but well see! Thanks guys.

 

HIDs were an option in 2001. Not sure of previous years.

 

I have a 99.5 and love it.

 

On friday I purchased a 99.5 1.8T Quattro with 68k miles on it. The body is in good condition and the interior is mint. I got this for 10, 995 from a local wholesaler and I am loving it. It has the cold weather package, and pretty much everything except the xenon lights. This is my first Audi, and am going from a ford ranger to this. I got it because I wanted something good for winter, and safe for my 1 year old to ride in. I just hope the maintenance cost don't kill me and its reliable.

thndrlight, Im in the same boat as you, minus the 1 year old! I too had a Ranger, 2 actually, and they were the most reliable trucks ever. I never cared much for reliablilty till I bought a Saab, then a 3000GT. Sounds like you got a good deal. Good luck with that, and see if ya can post some pics soon.

 

Yea i would get a 99.5 quattro 5spd 1.8t if i were you. You can definetly get a good one for that price. Also somebody on audiZine sells an oem hid kit for 300 which is a great deal. Good Luck
