Default Looking to buy an Audi...new member

Hello all, Im 18 just fresh out of high school and heading upstate for college. Right now I drive an 03 Ram 1500 with that big gas sucking hemi. Well im not allowed to bring the truck up for the first year so its pointless to be paying for the loan and insurance if im not going to be driving it, so I will be selling it by the end of the summer. And i've decided im going to go with Audi come next summer. Im looking to get an A4 3.0 quattro with a 6 speed. Just trying to get some ideas on what kinda work to do to it. Just getting excited over it so I thought i'd join the forum to get some input on it .

hey welcome. good choice on the quattro but the 3.0 doesnt have many mods availible for it other then exhaust and intake. your better off getting a 1.8t if you want to mod the car, there the possibilities are endless

Exactly what he said ^^^!
If you want 6 gears to play with, go for an 04 1.8T and I think you'll be happier. Get an APR Stage 1+ setup (chip and injectors) and you'll be having a lot more fun than you would with the 3.0... and you'll get better gas mileage, too.

Welcome to the forums!

Idk if I can take that change going from 5.7 liters to 1.8 haha. I like the mod a bility of the 4 but I like the displacement of the 6. Im not looking to go crazy with it. Most I would want to do would be intake, exhaust, chip, wheels/tires, cosmetics, suspension and at most a supercharger...then with that comes a better clutch. What kind of power can you pull out of that with a supercharger? Anything over 325 horse and I couldnt ask for anything more. PES-tuning makes a s/c for it and puts out 320 horse which is not bad. My truck puts probly around 370 horse or so to the flywheel and only around 275 to the wheels and I can take care of altimas and civic type R's all day long. No need for a 500+ horse racecar...just need something thats fun to get back and forth to school and work with. The drive to my campus is 6 and a half hours and in the winter it snows to no end (Oswego NY). So I am kind of keen to the 3.0 but hey nothings written in stone.

Chipping a 3.0 isn't going to give you anything worth talking about...
Chipping a 1.8T pretty much puts you in V6 territory. With the injector file, you're faster than the 3.0.
And, for way less money than the PES supercharger, you can big turbo your 1.8T and it'll have more than 320 hp.

Kits are a bit over 3 grand... and you need to add exhaust and a FMIC.
