only people who aren't knowledgeable about cars disregard the potential of a turbo.

1.8t + chip will be able to keep up with a 3.0. Plus, you'll be getting better gas mileage. The car will also handle better, because the 1.8t engine is lighter than the 3.0. IMO, that's the way to go.

Well, this has put my decision to rest. I was thinking about the 3.0 too but now, I'm definitely gettin the 1.8T.

But man, the big leap from 5.0 to 1.8. I'm gonna miss being able to drift so easily and take out high end sports cars. But then again, I'm not selling the 5.0 so...xD

Which is why I made up my mind and am going to go with the best of both worlds and get an 01' or 02' S4. 6cyl biturbo. I'll get all the performance parts from AWE tuning...that thing decked out with their turbo which puts out 525 horse on race fuel. And 460 on pump gas. Now that makes me happy. Now I only have to wait a good 10 months before I can get one haha. Just wish/hope I can go for the 4.2 liter S4...now that would be beast.

My S4 is friggin ignorant. Floored it on the freeway this evening driving home and it was to 120mph before I knew what happened. The 3.0 A4 is a nice driveable car, and I get close to 30mpg when I keep my foot out of it. My TT is chipped and the exhaust goes in next week. Should be good for a solid 280hp. After that the FMIC comes next, then BBK, and finally the stage III+ Turbo kit next year. I love Audis.

Have you compared the 4.2 S4 and the 2.7?? I want to know how extreme the power difference is.

DANG! What do you do for a living to have all 3 of those cars plus money to upgrade them??? LOL

Josh

P.S. If you ever want to get rid of one of them LMK and I will take one off your hands.

LOL... I'm old (43), and I'm a software engineer for a bank. I'm on a budget for the upgrades, and I have two car payments. One for the S4 and one for the A4. The TT is mine. Some people shoot drugs for insane amounts of money. Some people drink. I have gasoline in my blood. I've been a German car freak since I was a little boy and been driving Audis for the last 20 years on and off. All I know is when I slip behind the wheel of any of these cars I'm in the sweet spot. The humble A4 3.0 is flat out the best commuter car I have ever owned next to my 84' 4000 Quattro that I had in the late 80s and put over 100k on. I've put 20k on it since I bought it and it has been absolutely trouble free.
