Plus the 2001 has 20 more HP then the 96-00.
Which makes absolutely no difference after a chip.
1.8t's werent introduced until 97 for the USA btw.
Chip is definitely a good mod. GIAC or APR, will put you from 150hp(96-00) or 170(01) to 200-208hp. Really good gains plus if you don't drive it hard you get a little bit better gas mileage

If your not modding 2001 would be the choice!

2001 is still the best~![8D]

the answer lies in my first post, the 01 has 20 more hp stock then the 96-01. It's a little bit quicker is all, that is why

Oh, I see...I should've realized that. I still can't wait to chip mine, though. [sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]

well i have to have a automatic bc of physical reasons but does anyone know how the 1.8t compares to a
is300 and what are some good mods to do especially if it already has a turbo
if you absolutely have to have an auto, make sure you get a 98+, so that at least you get the tiptronic option.

stock to stock, the IS300 will kick the snot out of a 1.8T A4. the 1.8T is a dog in stock form, no question about it. chip it though, and you should be as quick as the IS300 if not a little quicker. the real advantage with the audi of course is quattro though, in the twisties you'll leave the lexus in the dust. interior fit and finish is also on a completely different level with the audi. the lexus is still a toyota when it comes down to it.

$500, around $600 if you have someone install it.

~$500. And another $250 for new diverter valves.

there's absolutely no reason to spend $250 on a diverter valve. a bosch 710N will cost you around 40 bucks shipped from ecstuning.com, and as long as you're not planning to upgrade your turbo, it'll do the job just fine.
