Default Looking at getting an A4

Hello,

This is my first post on the Audiforums website. I am looking into getting a used a4 1.8t 5spd Quattro. Im looking at getting a low mileage 2 or 3 year old car. Main thing I am concerned about is there any trouble areas I shoudl look for. Also to anyone that owns one do you have any rattling of dash pieces door panels? How solid is the car after it gets some miles on it. I could answer a lot of these questions myself by going and driving one but the closest used A4 spd quatrro is only 400 miles away. I plan on driving a brand new one at my local dealer this week to see how I like the car (looks wise I love it) but I am very picky on what I like. Also if anyone has links to other threads on hear or if im in the wrong let me know.

Thanks

Zach D

Hey zachd, welcome to the forum. Rattling probalby just depends on the car.

Well main reason I ask is I have always owned GM cars (Shhhhh dont tell anyone) They have always rattled. Well I just bought a 04 Grand Prix. Its a great car but now that it has 14k miles on it has more rattles than my odl 98 GP with 130k Miles. Now that Im making more money I like he audis and have heard good things for the most part and want some input from the real people. The owners. (plus GM offers nothing affordable in a 4 door AWD manual).

I like the GTO but My current car is a 4 door and I have owned 2 doors before and just like having a 4 door more. Its funny you mention that becuase originally I was thinking S4 and GTO. Well GTO would save me a ton of money. But Im more interested in having a comfortable nice ride to work then going fast. Maybe the A4 will provide me this.

The A4 is built pretty tight. I have one rattle in my b piller right now, but my car is almost 7 years old! I don't think you will be disapointed by buying an Audi. In fact I don't think you will want any other brand of car afterwards.

My A4 is a '98 with 105k and it has absolutely no rattles. Very solid and tight car. Not nearly as fast as a GTO but it feels so good in the turns that it easily makes up for the acceleration issue. Try one with a sport suspension. Have fun!
