So my car lost all boost on the way home from work today... I ran a VAG-COM and these are the codes it threw... Help !!!! The last code i'm sure is nothing and just was thrown because of the other problem?

Start by checking to see if your ecu fuse is blown

my fuses are ok, one of the 15amp ones has a little black on it but so do other unrelated fuses the same size. None of them are burnt in the middle.

Check the Engine coolant temp senor (ECTS) and the thermostat for this code: 18613 - Performance Malfunction in Cooling System
None of those codes should cause you to lose all boost. A bad ECTS can cause alot of screwy problems but I doubt you would lose all boost.

I would clear the codes and drive for about 10 minutes and re-scan.

Default RE: Lost all Boost - HELP - I have the codes

I had lost most of the boost, it would boost to 2-5psi and that was it. My car never even started to overheat...

reset the code and drove 25mins to work this morning with no problems.. I monitored the car on the way to work and have a data log of the drive. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Is it possible that the part is just about to die? What part is the cooling sensor and where is it located in the engine bay?

Thanks for the info, much appreciated

P2186 Engine Coolant Temp Sensor 2 Circ Interm/Erratic

yes the temp sensor would cause problems to power because it cant tell if the coolant is hot or cold and that would put it in limp mode and that's why you would loose boost, the other codes are just alarm and nothing to worry about ( I hope )

i'm not worried about the alarm codes. .. it just got back from the dealer 2 weeks ago for an oil change and some warranty matience work ... I hadn't run a check since i got it back, so im sure that's where those codes came from....

Yeah it was wierd... At least it wasn't 120 ouside and something was actually wrong with the sensor and the car overheated... that would suck

I've only overheated the car once racing myself up a hill in the middle of the day in the summer heat for 45mins driving it hard the whole way up. It ended up just above the 3/4 mark on the temperature sensor and cooled down as soon as i made it to the top... That drive was wayyyy tooo much fun

if you cleared the code for the temp sensor and it didn't come back its probably a bogus code but if it came back I would change the temp sensor
