I am new to the a4 thing, I have always been into motorcycles untill I lost my lisence a while back for wheelies... 7 state cops 1 motorcycle.... 14 mile chase.... it was bad... but anyways....

I am looking to buy an audi.. There is a 99 A4 1.8t quattro that I have been looking at.. It has 88 k miles on it and timing belt.. water pump... etc, 1076 dollers worth of work just done to the car... but when I drove it the turbo seemed to sound loud? Is the turbo going bad? I heard the that S4 Ko3's go bad around 100000 miles but I didn't think that was also with the A4's.... Can someone help me out with this.. It would be very much apreciated...

Yup... Got it back and rode it home from the impound lot the day I was let out.... (3 days after the run bastards called the heli on me!)

You don't think the loud turbo means anything? I know you will hear the turbo but it just seems loud.. I have only ever driven one 1.8t so I don't know...

 

hmmm, i dont hear my turbo at all..........

i just went outside n turned my a4 1.8t on and had my bro rev up the engine real quick, didnt hear it at all. i did hear something whirrin' down but i think that was the alternator...

 

How did u end getting caught? dump it? I have had a few run ins with the law aswell, sometimes i wonder if they have anything better to do.

 

Yeah, once they get the ghetto bird on ya, you're pretty much fvcked. No point in runnin after that.

 

Remove the intake hose from the air box to the turbo and feel the impeller shaft. It shouldnt be loose. If it is the turbos toast.

 

I gave up.. Pulled the **** over once I saw the "ghetto bird" I knew I was fucked...

So you can't here your turbo at all not even when you are driving? I'll try taking it off... thanks

I wouldn't say mine's loud but I can definitely hear it, especially in higher RPM's.
