In NJ Sunoco Ultra is no longer 94; it is 93 now. Sunoco changed the super to 91.

I have had the same problem ever since i bought the car.I get 190max miles on my audi. Once i noticed these low miles, i got new spark plugs andput in a k&n air filter. Nothing changed after that. Dont have shell where i live, so i put BP gas (91 Octane). I think i will get my fuel filter changed next and see if that helps. Dont know what else to do [&:]...BTW i have 99.5 2.8q manual.

Yup, my B5 2.8 used to get 22-24 around town, and 27-29 on the highway under 80. Over 80 used to drink a lot more. I used to plan on around 400 mile per tank. Thecurrent B7 2.0 has only had one fill up with me, but it's low to mid-20's in mixed driving.

I saw a couple other good suggestions, what does your temp gauge do, if it doesn't rise in the first 4-5 miles to straight up a coolant sensor could be acting up. That sensor will keep the enging in start up conditions, rich mixture. Run a VAG-COM on it and look for any flags, even those that won't turn on the CEL will run it too rich. Are you leaking any gas from the banjo fittings on the fuel filter? Do you ever smell gas getting in or out of the car?

Thats really low, especially for a 1.8T, whats the mileage on the car? I doubt the fuel filter has anything to do with it. Your car probably needs a tune up, maybe change the maf and precat o2 sensor too.

^^ That's what I was going to say, definitely check the precat O2 sensor.

fuel filter doesnt affect mpg if it was bad you would run lean and get better mpg. the 1.8t is notorious for having a faulty fuel level sender that goes bad and shorts out so you do not get the correct tank reading

highway i get around 400 miles to the tank. around town i can get up to 300. i would just start with a tune up if i were you. new air filter (non-oiled), spark plugs, seafoam, oil change. no reason to change fuel filter unless your over 100k. cabin filter wouldn't do anything for gas mileage.
