Default MAF Destruction and Blowoff valves

Hey I heard that if you get an aftermarket intake it ruins the MAF sensor, yet I think this is bull. I was planning on putting an ABD racing CAI on my car but I'm worried about the rumors i've heard of the MAF censor causing check engine lights to turn, and then causing annoying problems. I also had a question about the differences between a bypass valve and a diaphragm blowoff valve. I heard on 1.8t's the bypass valve which has a quieter blowoff works better, but i want good sound. Help me out. thanks.

those are based on the filter you're running. some filters, like the shitzy K&N not only allow more air to flow through, but also more particles, which go straight to your MAF, which will eventually ruin your MAF and cause the CEL.

it is only the drop in filters like checkmyvitals said the K&N one has been know to give problems but I have not heard about any CAI problems just get yourself a normal DV like forge or something and u will be happy

well if ur lookin for sound you can go with a gfb hybrid blow off. also if you are worried about the filters try a foam style filter they flow just as nice and i dont think they use an oil either
