Major Oil problem B5 Help!
As I posted last week, I have had a oil leak that I cited to be coming from the valve cover. Assuming that, I need to change my valve cover gasket (which I have not done yet). I still have been noticing the oil burning smell at stops and while standing outside of the car. I've been keeping pretty close tabs on the oil lately because of this. Now, tonight I had the car on a 25-30 minute constant drive to Ohio. I got where I needed to be a little early, so I figured what the hell let's check the oil. Shut the car down, opened the hood, pulled the dipstick..... See white....... double take, dip the stick again just to make sure its not my eyes. Still white frothy mix, so I wiped the stick clean and replaced the stick. Pulled it again and still had the same mix, just a little less concentrated.
So, I assume the worst i.e. Blown head gasket, blown turbo, etc. I never noticed my temp gauge drop and rise on the trip, nor did I see my oil temp increase beyond normal ranges. I question the turbo, because its boosting, but its not very strong and at times seems to stutter. The car has 137,5xx miles on it now. Not only do I have a leaking valve cover, but now I have coolant in the oil ( I probably should have tasted it, but I didnt feel like putting oil in my mouth at the time). On the drive home, I experienced nothing out of the ordinary i.e. spiking temp or oil gauges, no CELs, no sporatic shutdowns.
Unfortunately, I dont have a compression tester available to be right now. Im assuming I should let the car sit until I get it checked out, just to be safe. Worst case scenario, I pull the head, put a new gasket on and ARP head studs OR change the turbo OR both. Unfortunately, I dont have a boost gauge either to know if Im even building 8lbs. I dont even want to think of a cracked block or head, which I dont think is the case at this point, at least not yet. I need to get the car up on a rack to check it all out. I know Id be having many more problems if anything on the motor was cracked. Like I said Im not overheating, so I dont have to get the H&K ready just yet. If I find out I was dealt a Sh** car, this wont be a pretty case.
Any suggestions???

Like I said, I had no idea there was coolant or water in my oil up until tonight and I was already there[&:]...... Ill be doing my own work anyways, I dont trust many mechanics....[&o]

I would definately change the head gasket first. And shouldnt be driving that far with all that going on, its just gonna get worse untill you have a huge bill.

Yeah, I checked out the oil cap as well today... All kinds of sludge up under there. As Ive monitored the oil and coolant, I noticed that both have dropped considerably in the last week, enforcing the sludge fact.
It might be time to call Audi..... for the sludge warranty

2nd on david's response. Oil cooler gasket is a common problem, then check head gasket. its got to be one of those, since you're getting coolant/oil mix. probably just a small leak, but check it out asap and keep her in the driveway.
Yeah its definately not leaving the driveway. I just have a weird feeling that its the head gasket because my temp gauge was bouncing around a little last night and it seems like Ive lost a little power. Plus that oil leak from the valve cover gasket. Im afraid of catastrophic failure on this motor, just this feeling in my stomach tells me its not good.
