Bought my 98.5 1.8t Q Tip for 7,500 at 120,000 miles. Had a couple things wrong, it was missing the back light switchs, nice ol' crack in the windshield, and the best part a OIL SLUDGE problem. Luckily, the damage wasn't extensive, and a simple pan cleaning and flush got rid of that annoying oil light. At 130,000 my ETS went out, creating starting problems, cost me a whole 12 dollars and 30 minutes to fix. Then my control arms snapped at 140,000 miles. Luckily I was parked, lol. That was about 1,600 after everything (had both side replaced). Theres a lot of stuff you can do yourself to these cars, but theres also a lot of stuff you cant. As long as you do reg. maintenance (i.e. regular oil changes, trannyflush/fill, timing belt, bearings, etc.)I don't see why it wouldnt last 250,000+ miles.
