In the market for a B7
Whats up! Just joined these forums as I am in a hunt for a new car and the B7 A4 is one of the top choices I have right now.
Is this model superior to the B6 model? I never enjoyed the bubbly body style of the B6 and thought the B7 to look in top form.
I am looking for primarily a used vehicle and this would be my first car purchase.
Any tips on what particularly I should be looking for and the best place to buy?
I am located in the SF Bay Area, CA
Excited to be here

They're great cars! Advantage of a B7 is the 2.0T instead of the 1.8T.
You need to figure out if you want front wheel drive or quattro, and automatic or manual. Also S-Line package is better than non. There are all sorts of options, like bi-xenon headlights, navigation, bluetooth integration, satellite radio, etc.
So think about what you'd like, and see what options are available on different used cars at places.

I went and test drove a 2008 S Line 2.0T Front wheel drive. Definitely was a smooth ride, had a decent amount of pickup. Didn't get much of a chance to test performance as all pretty much a straight road. Quote was $26,500 (10,000 miles) with a premium package. I didn't negotiate at the moment as I was just browsing, but felt it was a bit high.
What would you pay for a B7 right now. This one was certified pre owned. I was hoping to find a 2.0T Quattro for between 22-25k. This just didn't seem like a "deal." I was the only customer there too, on a saturday afternoon.

I might be picking up a car at the auction. I am hoping this 3.2 S-Line with NAVI and only 10k miles will go for less then $25K
ps. anyone has something against 3.2 V6s. I see that most people buy 2.0T. I know that lots (if not all) of 2.0T engines burn oil like crazy. Is it the same with V6s ?

i dont know if you are laughing or really asking a question, but.........i dont own an audi nor do i have any experience with them (other then a4s used to be shitty cars in 1996-2001)....i did my research and did ask few of my friends with 2.0t and it all comes down to the fact that Turbos burn oil while V6s might not. (in worst case it burns quart per 1000 miles which is considered normal by audi)

v6 might burn oil too. here is my own experience. back when my cousin got his 2002 audi a4 3.0 the dealer didnt change the oil or check to see if is low. so my cousin drove it for like 5 months without even thinking about changing oil or checkin the oil. finally one day he lets me borrow the car and I cant even start it. after a few try I got it to start, so I bought it to a local garage to check it out right away, than I found out the car has no oil, or very very low on oil.

Steven's Creek Audi, San Jose
They have a huge selection of certified, pre-owned 2007 models, including an s-line 3.2 quattro and a couple nice S4s.
I just brought home a 2007 S-line Quattro 2.0 with the Titanium package. (Yes, the one that was on CL.)
It's not quite as peppy as my VW GLI 1.8t, but I can fix that with some tuning. Nice car.

back to the topic. I think it all depends on what you really want to do. if you are going to mod the car, like hp is what you really want, I would go for 2.0T. N/A tune engines and turbo engines are very two different types of engine. from what I know, for about the same amount of money or less you can have great hp gain with a turbo engine. with N/A tune engines you'll probably have to spend more to get more hp.
Example:
2.0T with a stage I chip for around $500-700 you can gain 40-70hp. cant really find that price for that much amount of hp gain on a N/A tune engines.
My previous car, an m3, I spend around $550 on a chip that will increase the rev limit to 7k and remove the governor speed and only gain 19 hp. I mean I love my M3 and if it wasnt for personnal financial reasons I will not get rid of it. so it really all comes down to what you want. a DD or you want to mod. I want to mod but not mod the car like the ricers, and so far audi is good to me and save me some gas with the 2.0T so if I have the chance I will mod this 2.0T. spend around $6k or 7k and the 200hp plus chip will jump to 400-500hp. I can probably keep up with a stock E92 M3
