Carefully and completely inspect the car and then go to http://www.kbb.comtorun it through the system. This will give you a general idea of how much it should cost. Personally I think the price is a bit high as I paid 17,500 CANADIAN for my 02 A4 Quattro 1.8T. Just because yours is a 6 cyl shouldn't mean it has to be priced higher. From what I can see, itlooks likethe car is being driven allot so by the time you're hands are on it, it could have racked up anywhere from 200 to 500 milesduring it's demo time. This kind of thing bugs me and was something I waswary of when I bought mine. Mine had about 60,000 Miles on it when I got her so the price was definitely right for me. BE CAREFUL. This one raises flags as far as I'm concerned.

HARV405--- take it from me, a previous owner of a 1996 12v 2.8, and current owner of a 2001 30v 2.8, you want the 30v 2001. TRUST ME. The 2001 was the last year of the b5, it most likely has xenons, better leather, and the interior styling is WAY DIFFERENT and way more upgraded. The 2001 will be a way better car, and honestly at 12,500 your getting a smoking deal, i bought mine for 12,900 with 55k miles and I got a killer deal as well. The car retailed for 20k when i bought it and wholesale was 15-16k so 3-4k UNDER wholesale is almost unheard of.

GET THE 2001, dont let this opportunity pass you up. $160 per month for a 2001 audi w/ 52k miles is unheard of. Dont go after an older one that you will need to start replacing control arms and tie rods right away... do it right, trust me, the 2001 is a much much better car, i promise.
But the thing im worried about is justifing giving myself a car payment a month. considering im in college and move around a lot and what not. I need this to be reliable and strong. It does have xeons and good leather lol. Im not buying from an audi dealer mind you, id be buying it from the small car dealer in my town. But its very hard for me to justify paying for a montly payment. If I can even get approved for the loan anyway.

no no no dont give semi-false info....

not only the 96's have those wheels, my 2001 came with the same wheels my 1996 did (both 2.8's). The wheels that are on your car are audis 2.8 rims, they dont come on a 1.8...

in 1997 they had both the 12v 2.8 and introduced the 1.8t to america.

I agree, go for the one with 52k miles, its worth paying another 3 grand for, in the end.... and its a good price. Buy it!

Ive been hearing that a lot lately. Is it really worth having a car payment? If I can even get approved. (loan companies ideas) Then insurence will be through the roof. Ideas?

Sigh..

The reputation of the 1.8T engine bugs me... We have people in the 100's with 1.8T who have chips, and are running fine. People are getting false info, its like any other car... you just gotta make sure everything checks out, and that its been serviced accordingly. Whats the big deal!?[&:]

Im not saying its bad im saying ive heard one to many horror stories on that engine and my girlfriend has the 2.8 and it has been bulletproof. Plus I like that engine more. Just in my personal opinion. Not saying its bad but i like the 2.8 better nad since id be keeping it stock i want the extra power.
