what a damned moron. This is a fine example (and rare example) of natural selection at work.

I would only buy a Audi from a Audi dealership yes you are going to pay a bit more but when they have used ones on the lot they make sure they are clean ones not like some of the shaddy aftermarket used car dealers and you also have the option of getting Audi Assured warrenty that is a great warrenty
Well all that fell through...my dad called him the next day and I guess both of those are sold...but I've been finding some cool 2000 or so A4 1.8t tiptronics, but don't know much about how good they are...anybody know a little about the tiptronic transmissions?

tiptronic is nice if youn like automatic GIAC makes a tip chip for them makes it shift quite a bit faster from what I've heard it is not recommened to go any bigger than a K04 turbo on them unless you plan on upgrading the tranny also

since you seem to be looking at a range of 2000-2001 A4 1.8T's why dont you try keeping your eyes peeled for a 99.5 1.8T then you can do all the mods you would ever want to..
RE: Might be getting a 2001 Audi A4...excited!
i have an '02 B6 tiptronic 1.8t and love it. i know audi changed the tip a bit for the newer models to make it smoother and more powerful, so i am not sure exactly how the '01 tip will compare with the tip in the '02.
as far as tip in general goes, it provides most of the advantages of manual, but in stop and go traffic you can flick that thing right over to straight-up auto, which is fantastic. considering i live in new york, and sitting in stop and go traffic is, unfortunately, not an uncommon occurrence, having tiptronic really is the best choice.
also, remember...whatever year/model you get...you're getting an audi. in my opinion, there's really not many other cars i'd rather be driving.
a4's are generally slow off the line, and the tiptronic is slower than the manual...but once these cars get going, they're faster than most other cars on the road, stick or tip. my car is plenty fast to get me in trouble.
if you want a manual, i say get a manual. but if you're not sure what you want, don't be discouraged by what some people say about tip being slow, cause i drive a tip, and it isn't slow at all...its freaking awesome.
good luck with your search and definitely let us know how it goes.
