Misfire Damage?
I was wondering what kind of damages can misfires cause? Ive been having this problem for a while, and it looks like its going to be another month before i can attempt to fix these misfires. Anything i should worry about.
Things to worry about:
- pulling out into traffic
- poor gas milage
- excessive wear and tear on engine
- ruined cat from too much unburnt fuel.
- ruined 02 sensors
- damage to the sparlk plugs in the misfiring cylinders
If you catch my drift, this is not a good idea. Fix it ASAP. If you MUST drive it, drive it very slowly and cautiously, but if it were my car, I would not drive it at all until I got the problem fixed, as you may make a simple problem much worse.

Agreed. Keep in mind , like acetrebo said, pulling out into traffic, you're not going to have the power you expect and are used to. That may result in damage to your bodywork, and you with an at-fault accident ticket. But yeah, it's not a good idea to drive that way. Misfiring and not firing on all cylinders will throw the engine out of balance, which could easily accelerate the wear on the engine.
