I think that they're only milling it 1 thousandths to make sure that there are no imperfections in the head. I wish compression wasn't so high in the motor already, but I only have Audi to thank for that one. The shop seems to think that it needs to be done to ensure that the head gasket job is done correctly. They seem to know there stuff, since all they work on is German cars.

what are they charging you to port and polish the head? and to mill it?

Sorry to hear about your A4. I have an audi TT (Same Engine) ...anyways I was having random misfires...I had the MAF replaced ..and the car appears to run much better. I hope to god I dont have a blown head gasket...

However ....If I do... I will beat the crap out of the guy who sold me the car...LOL.

I think the mill is somewhere around $250. I haven't asked about the P&P yet.

If you want to lower the compression ratio now would be the time for new pistons. Unless you find someone out there that makes a thicker headgasket.
