If you were worried about being too think you could do what I do in the summer. ELF 10-w40 or if it is really hot 15-w50. In the winter I like the cold start of mobil 1 0-w40 though.
Hey! Thanks man. I may just do that.

I posted in the General Tech Forum a link to the meaning of the ACEA standards.

I use Amsoil 0w30 and it's better than Mobil1 any day.
Mobil 1 just came out with 5,000 7,500 and Extended Performance (15,000 recommended). Amsoil has had "long drain interval synthetic oil" all along and they where the FIRST synthetic oil.

I didn't knock Amsoil. I only wanted the forum to know about the Extended Performance ACEA standards.

just because they're the first doesn't make them the best. and different cars have different "best" oils, and a lot of different brands come from the same places anyway.

Crazyhawk, I didn't say you wre knocking. We are cool.

As for BFlan2001: I beg to differ, you are incorrect sir. Not all oils are the same. Several diiferent base stocks and engineered additives.

I would consider Amsoil the best. However, I do not consider it required to have perfect health for your car. Unless you have a connection and get it for 1/2 the price, it's not worth it - Mobil 1 will perform just as good for any every day driver.

and guys, just a hint - if you want to post a link to some proof... try to have it impartial...
DerMeister, I doubt anyone who is arguing with you will take heed to anything posted on Amsoil's site. All those charts shows Amsoil in the lead, sure thing. But 95% of drivers will never see any days that can take advantage of Amsoils numbers.

i didn't say ALL oils are the same, that would just be ignorant to think. but many oils do come from the same refineries.

Any motor oil that meets this standard is good.

ACEA A3 or higher.

BrrMan, I disagree with the everyday numbers thing(everyday driving is the worst)...
It all depends on what you want... Good or the Best protection (meet or exceed the standard). To each his own. I just know what will work in the long run and protect it the best. I've seen the results in analysis and I'm very satisfied. You only know what you know and you only don't know what you don't know. And Amsoil isn't that much more $$$ over the long run.
