Default MODS

whats up yall,

Just purchased 99 Audi A4. Looking to mod the engine. I'm not looking to drop in more than I paid for. But what are some mods you can get or buy that are cost effective and do not kill your mpg. Also any links you guys use for your parts would be helpful. Thanks

JP

you could get a chip for it. TAP supposibly gives more increase in hp and torq.
Tap website:
http://www.tap1.com/catalog/product_...products_id=30
Audi A4 1.8T & Quattro '97 - '00 TAP Stage 1 Chip Upgrade This upgrade is a special price, includes the TAP Chip & the K&N panel airfilter. Takes the car from stock 150 hp to 198hp - running 11 lbs boost We give same day service and return your stock chip.

GIAC Chip:

Go with either the APR or GIAC chip it increases your boost to 1 bar which is roughly 14.5 lbs. and increases the torque.
Catback exhaust, and a snub mount. All for starters.
Also you could upgarde the suspension, new wheels. There is so much to do but those are good to start with, and you'll love your car so much more.

How about those GIAC chips, anything I should be aware of when getting one installed as far as extra parts they don't tell you have to purchase? Anything need to be upgraded to handle the new horsepower? Thanks for the posts!

just the diverter valve. if you want to do bigger mods later on you might as well get a nice forged dv, but if all you want to do is the chip and a few bolt-ons, the stock TT dv can be bought at a dealership for 35 bucks (its supposed to be able to handle up to 225hp) it's known as the 710N dv

Tap gives like 30 fewer pounds of torque than APR... APR gives 80, tap gives 48... hp is on par though. I have a the TAP chip.

Yep, a chip is your answer. I don't use a chip, but I hear that giac is the way to go.

Somebody on here has a Tip Chip, can't remember who it was. I'm thinking about doing it to my 2.8 eventually, apparently it's supposed to reduce shift delay from 1.0 second to 0.2, sounds good to me. I think it's $300?
